Welcome to Doug Levy's 2017 Virtual Food Drive!
This year, there are even more hungry families who need our help. In addition to helping New Yorkers get better nutrition, City Harvest has been helping restore nutrition to the people in Puerto Rico, who were so severely hit by the hurricane. Other organizations are working in Texas, Florida and Northern California to help families and others in need there. As you enjoy your holiday celebrations, please consider giving a few dollars (or a lot of dollars, if you can!) to help those who are less fortunate.
Please join me as we help City Harvest do its amazing, efficient work to bring healthy food to hungry peope in all five boroughs of the city. As I have done each of the past six years, I will match donations made via this page (I am giving at least $500 to City Harvest this year, and I will give $1,000 if others chip in $1,000 or more here.) Please dig deep into your wallet, and I will do the same.
Nearly 1.4 million New Yorkers are facing hunger. In my neighborhood of Washington Heights and Inwood, one out of every five households faces food insecurity every day.
City Harvest works in New York City, rescuing good food that would otherwise go to waste – this year it will be more than 55 million pounds of food – and delivering it free of charge to soup kitchens, food pantries and other community food programs across the city. Every $1 donated helps City Harvest rescue and deliver 4 pounds of good food. By donating, you’ll help keep City Harvest’s trucks on the road and filled with nutritious food for our neighbors in need.
• $10 helps feed 40 people
• $20 helps feed 11 people for a week
• $50 helps feed 6 people for an entire month
